In the year 2018, 239 newspapers were published in Bulgaria with a total annual circulation of more than 216 million copies. Compared to the previous year, the number of papers decreased by 6, while circulation increased by 20 million. Daily newspapers are 27 or 15.5% of the newspapers with circulation above 131 million. Weekly papers are 101 or 42% with a circulation of more than 76 million. They have a political, philosophical, religious and cultural orientation. There are 530 magazines on print, which is an increase of 3.9% compared to 2017. Magazines in 96 foreign languages were published as 89 out of them were in English. In 2018, a total of 8,650 books with a circulation of more than 9 million were published. Nearly 3000 out of them were fiction. Book titles decreased by 226, but the average circulation increased by 71.7%.
