The forthcoming purchase of F-16 fighter aircraft will be made with money from the reserve, Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov said. The negotiations between Bulgaria and the USA continue within the 1.15-1.3 billion USD price range. The US offer is for a price of USD 1.3 billion, but Sofia hopes to reduce the price of the 8 fighter jets with another USD 115 million without influencing the military capabilities of the fighter aircraft. At the end of next week a US delegation will arrive again in Bulgaria to hold the final talks related to the signature of the deal, Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov said. Minister Karakachanov announced that he is expected to meet with the Chief of the Pentagon in the coming days, if staff changes in Washington do not frustrate these plans.
