Sergey Stanishev withdraws his candidature for President of European Parliament

The leader of the Party of European Socialists and former Premier of Bulgaria Sergey Stanishev has withdrawn his candidature to become President of the European Parliament. After the extraordinary sitting of the European Council Premier Borissov voiced satisfaction with the distribution of the senior positions in the EU. A member of the European People’s Party will head the European Commission again, Boyko Borissov added and called the new President of the European Council Charles Michel a very good friend of Bulgaria. Borissov specified that he knew well Ursula von der Leyen who was nominated for the position of President of the European Commission. Kristine Lagarde who was nominated to head the European Central Bank is a professional and will play an important role during the process of Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone, Premier Borissov further said.
