September 17 is the day of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia

On September 17 the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors the memory of the Holy Martyrs Sofia, Vyara, Nadezhda and Luybov. September 17 is also the Day of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia and is marked with a series of festive and cultural events. The programme envisages a solemn sitting of the Municipal Council where traditional honorary insignia of the Bulgarian capital will be presented. The festive programme also includes exhibitions, concerts in emblematic places, carnival procession and other activities.
