National Assembly Committee on Culture and Media approves draft decision to assign National Audit Office the task to check Bulgarian National Radio

The National Assembly Committee on Culture and the Media has approved the draft decision of GERB party to assign the National Audit Office with the task to check the Bulgarian National Radio. The audit will cover the period January 1, 2017-September 30, 2019. The final report of the audit must be presented until January 31, 2020. Last Friday Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissiv announced in Parliament that he would ask the National Assembly to task the National Audit Office to audit the national radio after BNR stopped broadcasting Horizont channel for 5 hours on September 13. Today, the Association of European Journalists-Bulgaria organized a protest in support of the freedom of speech. AEJ-Bulgaria will request international inquiry into the case.
