The Council for Electronic Media has voted unanimously with 5 votes in favor of early termination of the term in office of Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio, Svetoslav Kostov.

The Bulgarian media regulator has appointed director of the BNR Archive Fund, Anton Mitov, to take temporarily the position of Director General. The reason for the decision was interruption of the broadcasting of BNR's central program - Horizon, for 5 hours on September 13, 2019, as the license states it must broadcast 24/7.

At a press conference Svetoslav Kostov said he did not accept CEM's motives and would appeal against the decision in court. According to Kostov, the media regulator has placed itself above the law and aimed at destabilisation of the BNR.
