On Sunday, firefighters managed to put off a wildfire in Stara Planina below the peak of Vrazha Glava. The fire has been located, but in order not to re-ignite, the area is being monitored. The fire is believed to have started from a smoldering embers left over from a previous fire. From October 27 to October 30, more than 150 firefighters, military, volunteers and forest rangers were putting off a large fire around in the same region. The fire affected 52 square kilometers in the Bulgarian and Serbian parts of the Balkan Range. Work at an altitude of 1800 above sea level was very difficult because of impassable terrain.
