Food producers complain retail chains were crushing them

Photo: library

Manufacturers of bread, dairy and meat products have once again complained about price pressure on their goods exerted by retail chains. According to the manufacturers, working methods of supply chains would lead to bankruptcies or a shift to the gray sector. Over the last two months, food prices have apparently risen because of retail chains. The price received by producers for their goods remains the same despite the increase in raw material prices. The conflict between supply chains and producers has existed since the entry of retail chains into the Bulgarian market and has not yet been solved. According to manufacturers, if 6-7 years ago retail chains held 30% of the retail market, their share now reaches 60%, and in larger cities 75%.
