Foreign direct investment grows in 2019 by nearly 1 billion euro

Foreign direct investment in Bulgaria has increased by 141 mln euros in October, the Bulgarian National Bank reports. A year ago, the same indicator reported an increase of EUR 116 million. The largest net direct investment in the country in the first 10 months of 2019 came from the Netherlands - EUR 422 million, followed by Germany EUR 233.7 million and the United Kingdom EUR 168.3 million. 
The balance of the current and capital account of Bulgaria in October was positive and amounted to EUR 445.4 million, compared to a surplus of EUR 128.8 million in October 2018. For the first 10 months of the year, the current and capital account has a surplus of EUR 6.208 billion, with a much more modest positive balance of EUR 3.3695 billion in the same period of 2018.
