A 10-metre-long traditional Bulgarian banitsa (cheese-filled pastry) was prepared for the 10th year in a row by the mayor of the Rhodope village of Davidkovo, Sevda Cholakova, to greet all residents and guests. The role of Santa Claus was played by Cholakova's opponent in the October local elections - mayoral candidate Dimitar Kanchev, who, along with Snow White, arrived in the centre of the village with a horse-driven carriage to give presents to the children. The Christmas festivities in the village also include a culinary exhibition of local delicacies.
Traditionally, many guests from Bulgaria and abroad visit the village of Davidkovo during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
