Bulgarian business sector voices support for President's veto on State of Emergency measures bill

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has voiced its support for the President's veto on certain texts of the State of Emergency measures and actions bill. The members of the BCCI oppose the state regulation of prices as a way of combating profiteering. According to the bill, businesses should provide goods and services to the population at prices which have been calculated as the arithmetic mean of prices over the past three months. BCCI believes that this is a deviation from the principles of a market economy, putting economic operators to the test.

BCCI officials also claim that the fight against profiteering should be conducted via direct deliveries from producers and through monitoring of unfair commercial behaviour by the authorities.
