Because of the coronavirus crisis, the deadline for submitting bids from strategic investors in the Belene NPP project will be extended, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has told the BNR. The five companies that have already expressed willingness to submit offers remain interested in the project, it was reported.

The Balkan Stream gas pipeline project and the Greece-Bulgaria inter-connector project are progressing within the set deadlines. According to Minister Petkova, the EU will not give up on its ultimate goal - to be leader in the fight against climate changes. Bulgaria has its own framework position, which has already been presented to Brussels. Coal power plants continue to be facilities that are to be relied upon. The Minister said that there were no comments from the European Commission, only a recommendation for increasing the share of RES from 25 to 27%.
