Hazardous weather warnings in parts of Bulgaria as winter returns

Warnings of hazardous weather are in force for some parts of Bulgaria this Tuesday. There are electricity cuts in 8 out of 10 municipalities in Bulgaria's district of Vratsa in the northwestern part of the country. This is the region with the biggest snow cover of 25 cm in the country. An orange alert code for heavy snowfall is declared in the districts of Montana, Vratsa, Lovech and Gabrovo. For other districts the yellow snow code applies. In central Bulgaria and in parts of south and southeastern Bulgaria there are rainfalls.

New snowfalls and a drop in temperatures are expected today. In northern and western Bulgaria the thickness of the snow cover will increase. There will be snowstorms along the mountain passes.

Drivers are advised to drive carefully and start trips only if prepared for winter conditions on the roads, the Bulgarian Road Agency warns.
