Bulgarian State Railways provide traffic alternative during COVID-19

The international railway cargo traffic is running smoothly, the General Manager of BDZ Cargo Ivan Lichev said. There is no risk of virus transmission when crossing the borders, because there is no staff in the cargo compositions and quarantine is not necessary. The locomotives and wagons are disinfected at the border crossings. Only downtime at border railway stations is extended due to stricter processing of documents. The Bulgarian State Railways is ready to transport goods with container compositions which will be processed at intermodal terminals in Dragoman and Plovdiv which would ease the complicated situation with TIR trucks crossing the borders.
