9 multiple-vehicle collisions were registered in Bulgaria during the state of emergency declared on March 13, the European Center for Transport Policies announced. A total of 19 multiple-vehicle collisions occurred since the beginning of 2020 which claimed the lives of 4 people. Risky driving behavior is the most common cause for these accidents. After the state of emergency, the European Center for Transport Policies will inspect the road section on Maritsa motorway where 22 TIR trucks were involved in a multiple-vehicle collision on April 3 and seven people were wounded. The European Center for Transport Policies insists that Bulgaria put in place stricter measures to prevent such accidents.
