There are two main measures in support of the tourist industry, the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism has explained today after protests of tourist sector organizations demanding the resignation of the tourism minister over lack of adequate measures for coping with the Covid-19 crisis in Bulgaria.

In a state of emergency, the main priorities are preserving jobs and preserving the opportunities for resuming work. The other measures are post-crisis, the ministry officials explain.
A Declaration of Travel at one's own risk has been drawn up. Also, a Strategic Advertising Program has been prepared which focuses on domestic tourism as well as Bulgarian and foreign tourists from neighbouring countries who do not need to travel by plane to come to Bulgaria. The aim is that the late summer season could at least partially cover the enormous damage caused by the pandemic.
There is hope for such development since no bookings have been cancelled for the period after June 15, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
