20,000 employed in hotel industry left out of a job

One in five of all newly registered unemployed in the conditions of pandemic are from the hotel and restaurant industry, or around 20,000 out of the total of 105,000 people employed in the sector, Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria data show.

The Confederation warns that the social security contributions paid for almost 40% of all people employed in this sphere are on the basis of the minimum monthly salary for the country – BGN 610 (EUR 312) - which automatically means low unemployment benefits.
