Unemployment in first quarter of 2020 lower than last year

Unemployment in the first quarter of 2020 was 4.6%, or 0.4 percentage points lower than in the same quarter of 2019. Officially, the number of unemployed Bulgarians is 150,000, according to national statistics. The economic activity rate of the population aged 15 to 64 is 71.4%. Compared to the first quarter of 2019 it has decreased by 0.5 points. 
The number of employed persons is 3,107,000. Persons feeling discouraged to seek employment aged 15-64 are 67,400, or 5.3%. The economically inactive persons aged 15-64 are 1,268.1 thousand, or 28.6% of the population in this group.
