The Physics of Sorrow of Bulgarian film director Theodore Ushev has won the Iris Award for Best Animated Short. This was announced by the film director on his Facebook account. Prix Iris is Quebec's National Film Award.
In these difficult times, our film managed to "revive" after being in the intensive care unit (it turned out that the virus also infects films), with the cancellation of all festivals for which it was selected. But the winners are all my colleagues whose films were nominated - for their courage and stoicism," the film director wrote.
The animated short film, which Theodore Ushev created in 2019, is based on the novel of the same name by prominent Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov. This is their second joint project after Blind Vaysha which was among the fiveshort films nominated for an Oscar in 2017.
