The number of foreigners, mainly Romanians, traveling transit to Greece through the Bulgarian border checkpoint of Gyueshevo with North Macedonia, has increased, BNR reported. This reduces traffic at the Kulata-Promahon checkpoint on the Bulgarian border with Greece.
Foreigners sign a declaration upon entering North Macedonia that they would leave the country within 12 hours and enter Greece through the Bogoroditsa-Evzoni checkpoint, otherwise they are subject to sanctions. Skopje has already allowed the transit of tourists. On the Bulgarian side, transit tourists can currently use only the border crossing Gyueshevo-Deve Bair. Most often transit through North Macedonia is used by Bulgarians for trips to Albania, as the Kafasan border checkpoint is open, too.
