Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev vetoed part of the amendments to the Ministry of Interior Act adopted on June 11, 2020, the press secretariat of the Bulgarian Head of State announced. President Radev does not dispute reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, the announcement reads. Bulgaria’s President vetoes texts which envisage the establishment of a new directorate within the Interior Ministry which duplicates the functions of the National Service for Protection. According to President Radev, duplication of functions creates conditions for inefficient use of state resources, without guarantees for greater security.
