The Bulgarian Medical Association has called on the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Fund to introduce an accurate protocol-algorithm in relation to patients with possible coronavirus infection.
Patients must be pre-tested with PCR tests for SARS-CoV-2 and it is not right for the tests to be paid by the hospitals or by patients, Dr. Stoyan Borisov, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Medical Association, has told BNR.
He explained that none of the tests that are carried out give a 100% guarantee, but the screening will protect hospitals from the epidemic, because if the coronavirus spread to hospitals, it would create difficulties to the health-care system.
