Bulgaria’s most successful football coach turns 75

Dimitar Penev who coached the Bulgarian National Football Team during the 1994 FIFA World Football Cup in USA is celebrating his 75th birth anniversary today. “Being a good football coach is a combination of football practice and the ability to listen and watch”, Dimitar Penev told BNR and admitted that the memories of the summer of 1944 when Bulgaria qualified for the semifinals of the World Football Cup and earned bronze medals remain strong. “Such moments cannot be forgotten”, Dimitar Penev recalls,  commenting Bulgaria’s biggest achievement in football. Today, Dimitar Penev is expected to be awarded by this country’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov.
