We shall not comment on events in Bulgaria, European Commission spokesperson Eric Mamer stated, answering a question about the EU’s view of the situation in the country of the past few days.

He added that as to the EU and European Commission’s attitude to the question of supremacy of law in Bulgaria, and in other countries, the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism is being applied. It is in place and is the means to monitor the rule of law situation, including in Bulgaria, nothing has changed as far as that is concerned. Our eyes are definitely not “wide shut” Eric Mamer said.
