European Commission finances renovation of Bulgaria's railway network

Bulgaria will receive more than 30 million euros under the Connecting Europe Facility. A total of 5 railway projects are being financed, the European Commission announced. 

The modernization of the electrical substations in Vratsa and Pernik receives the largest funding of 12.2 million euros. 
The sum of EUR 8.9 million is allocated for the study of the doubling of the railway route Plovdiv - Svilengrad - the border with Turkey. 
The sum of EUR 1.5 million is allocated for research and design of the modernization of the railway line Mezdra - Medkovets leading to the Danube Bridge 2 near Vidin. 
The sum of 2.4 m euros is earmarked for the project to modernize the route from Dragoman to the border with Serbia
A total of 1.7 million euros are allocated for the railway line leading to the port of Burgas.
