Tourist sector seeks PM Borissov’s help

With placards reading “SOS tourism – we want to work” tour operators organized a protest in front of the Council of Ministers building in Sofia.

They are demanding a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov to discuss how their businesses can be helped. They also want the immediate implementation of grant schemes and social investments for those affected most badly – the people working in outbound tourism and tourist guides. The protesters point out that they have been out of work since the start of the pandemic in March and that some are on the verge of survival. They say that the efforts of the government are targeted solely at inbound tourism.
