A new 5-leva bill will be put into circulation on 4 September, the Bulgarian National Bank has announced.
The design and the colours of the issues now in circulation will remain the same but there will be improved protective elements – a new hologram strip with a dynamic effect, chequered images of an upright lion with a crown and a new red to green colour converting security thread. The banknote will have an additional element for the visually impaired.
The new bill will have legal tender status along with the other bills.
