Draft of a new constitution submitted to parliament

Daniela Daritkova, chair of the GERB party parliamentary group has submitted, to the National Assembly’s registry office, a draft of a new constitution of Bulgaria.

The document has been sent to the chairpersons of all parliamentary groups of the 44th National Assembly, and to the MPs who are not members of any parliamentary group. With this act GERB is inviting all parliamentary groups for talks and consultations on the draft submitted with the aim of attaining broad consent among the members of parliament for the convocation of a Grand National Assembly, BNR’s reporters report.  

With these amendments GERB is proposing the introduction of machine voting at all polling stations in the country with over 300 constituents Voters can choose how to cast their vote – by machine or paper ballot.

GERB is also proposing the addition of a new chapter to the code regulating the holding of elections for Grand National Assembly, to include a mixed electoral system – 200 MPs to be elected by proportional representation and the remaining 200 – by majority vote.
