President Rumen Radev is to visit the city of Varna on the Black Sea today, 17 August.

At 7 PM he is to meet with protesters there who are upholding statehood in Bulgaria for yet another day, the presidency has announced.

On Friday, 14 August, hours after Prime Minister Boyko Borissov proposed that a Grand National Assembly be convened for approving a new constitution, President Rumen Radev made an address to the nation in which he rejected this initiative.

“Discussions of the constitution and of the future of Bulgaria are only possible after the resignations and fair early elections which society is demanding,” the President said.

Today GERB party submitted its draft of a new constitution to the registry office of the National Assembly.
