On the 47th day of protests in Bulgaria demanding the resignation of Premier Boyko Borissov and this country’s Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev demonstrators are to lay flowers before the regional administration of Sofia Region. The event follows a post of the District Governor of Sofia Region Ilian Todorov on Facebook containing offensive remarks to the participants at the antigovernment rally. Three major intersections remain blocked in Sofia- the intersection on Eagles’ Bridge, near the Sofia University and between the Presidency and the Council of Ministers buildings.

The 46th day of protests passed off peacefully. Demonstrators joined the traditional procession from Independence Square to the tent camp on Eagles’ Bridge. Protesters made a video link with demonstrators in the coastal city of Varna. A counter protest was held for the sixth consecutive evening in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia against blockades of main road arteries.

Protests also took place in other Bulgarian towns during the weekend. Bulgarians living in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Czechia, Spain, the Netherlands and other countries also joined the protests.
