At a hearing in Bulgaria’s Parliament, this country’s Minister of Interior Hristo Terziyski explained that Police had to react when the protest escalated on Wednesday night. The law enforcement authorities have ascertained that dangerous materials and substances were stored in the tent camps. As a result, the camps were removed after midnight. Ten cargo vehicles removed waste including bricks, iron, cobblestones and household materials, Krasimir Dimitrov, Director of Emergency Response and Prevention Directorate at the Sofia Municipality told BNR. The damages on Independence Square are yet to be estimated.
