With inspirational performance Pironkova continues forward in New York

Tsvetana Pironkova qualified for the third round of the US Open. The Bulgarian, for whom this is the first tournament after more than three years of absence, won against number 10 Garbiñe Muguruza (Spain) with 7: 5, 6: 3 for 84 minutes. The 32-year-old player from Plovdiv recorded her second victory in professional tennis since July 2017 at Wimbledon. After Wimbledon she treated an injury and in the meantime gave birth to her first son. In the third round of the tournament, Pironkova will play against Croatia's Donna Vekic.

In the second round of this year's US Open, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov lost 6-7, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 against Marton Fucsovics of Hungary and dropped out of the tournament.
