Bulgaria must continue to implement reforms under the Co-operation and Verification mechanism, said European Commission spokesman Christian Wiegand.

"We clearly stated when adopting the last report on the mechanism that Bulgaria must ensure the implementation of the necessary reforms and they are related to the independence of the judiciary and the fight against corruption. You can be sure that these problems will be closely monitored through the new rule of law mechanism. The work with the Bulgarian authorities in this direction should continue in the context of this mechanism, the report on which is expected in the coming weeks", adds Wiegand, quoted by BNR.
