EC: Bulgaria must continue to fight against high-level corruption

The European Commission is to present on September 23 the first reports on the rule of law in each member state, European Commission’s Vice President Věra Jourová announced, quoted by the correspondent of the Bulgarian National Radio in Brussels Angelina Piskova.

Bulgaria must continue the fight against high-level corruption, Věra Jourová told the MEPs from the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. Today, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs went over the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism with Commission’s Vice-President Jourová.

The monitoring on Bulgaria will continue under the new horizontal mechanism, which includes freedom of media as well. With regard to the protests in Bulgaria Věra Jourová said that the European Commission has no authority to interfere in the home affairs of the member states.
