220 athletes from 10 countries took part in the first edition of the Kyustendil marathon today, with prize fund 10,000 euro.
The marathon was won by Atrem Kazban, Ukraine who covered the distance of 42.195 kms., in 2 hours 28 minutes. Üzeyir Söylemez, Turkey came second, and Ugandan-born Ismail Senandji, who competes for Bulgaria came third, BNR’s Kiril Falin reports.
The event is on the calendar of the Bulgarian and the Balkan athletics federations, bgathletic.com writes. Competitors from Bulgaria, Turkey, North Macedonia, Romania, Albania, Ukraine etc., took part in the event.
