More than half of Bulgarians say the healthcare system has tackled the coronacrisis

Bulgarians have a traditionally negative attitude to the healthcare system, but over the past year there has been a positive trend, probably because of the coronavirus crisis.
63% of Bulgarians say that the healthcare system is going in a negative direction; a year ago this percentage was around 70, indicates a survey by Trend sociological agency conducted in August, 2020, and commissioned by the “Together for better health” initiative which includes the Bulgarian Medical Association.
52% of the respondents say that the Bulgarian healthcare system has tackled the problems connected with the pandemic, 26% - that it has not, 22% cannot say.

Coronavirus infection rate in Bulgaria stands at 24.8 per 100,000

After a comparatively high rate in August, in September Bulgaria entered a phase of a relatively diminished coronavirus infection rate, said Chief State Health Inspector and member of the National Operational Headquarters on Coronavirus Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev for the BNR. For the moment, out of the EU countries Bulgaria is in 19th position in Covid-19 incidence which is below the average. In the past 14 days the coronavirus infection rate in the country has been 24.8 per 100,000.In the Balkans Serbia is the only country with a lower infection rate, whereas in Montenegro it is 256 per 100,000, in North Macedonia - 68, in Turkey - 27. Angel Kunchev stressed that despite the low infection rate achieved in the country, the anti-epidemic measures must still be observed, as the spread of the virus is a highly dynamic process.

Anti-coronavirus measures on the eve of Holy Cross Day

On the eve of one of the 12 big Christian feasts – Holy Cross Day – people from all over the country come to Krastova Gora (Forest of the Cross) in the Rhodopes, BNR-Plovdiv reports.
Because of the anti-epidemic measures this year, all churches will be disinfected and fewer believers will be allowed inside.
Religious services will take place tonight outdoors – in front of the Protection of the Mother of God central church.
