Solution to history dispute between Bulgaria and North Macedonia is needed

Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev said that Gotse Delchev was a Macedonian revolutionary, but it was a fact that Bulgarians consider him Bulgarian, BTA has reported. In order to bring the two sides' positions on the historic dispute closer, Zaev said he would meet with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov before the date of November 10th in Sofia.

Nobody wants new criteria to be introduced for North Macedonia. There is a very clear criterion from the very beginning of the EU's existence: Each candidate country must clear up problems with its neighbors before starting negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister Krassimir Karakachanov has told Europe TV. That is why Bulgaria will oppose the first EU intergovernmental conference with Skopje, Karakachanov said as quoted by BGNES.
