Bulgaria spends the least money on sports in the EU

Bulgaria was the country with the lowest per capita spending on recreation and sports in the EU in 2018, Eurostat data shows. EU countries have spent 50.7 billion euros on leisure and sports, and money on this item is increasing relative to total government spending. 

The lowest percentage for recreation and sports from their government spending is set aside by Bulgaria, Ireland and Malta - 0.4%. Hungary has the largest share - 2.1%. The average for the EU is 0.8 percent, BTA reports.

Bulgaria has spent on recreation and sport the lowest amounts in EU for 2018 - 11 euros per capita, followed by Romania with 30 euros and Slovakia with 31 euros. Luxembourg spent the most on this indicator - 500 euros. 
On average in the EU, money per capita for sports and leisure amounts to 113 euros.
