According to the deal for the acquisition of new F-16 Bloc 70 fighter aircraft approved by the Bulgarian National Assembly, this country can study the possibility to acquire another 8 fighter jets and in this case we are not talking about a new agreement. This is what Bulgaria’s former Air Force Commander and current Chief of Defence General Tsanko Stoykov commented in an interview for BNT.

On occasion of the demand of the Bulgarian Socialist Party that Premier Borissov and Defense Minister Karakachanov are heard in Parliament on this topic, General Stoykov called on the MPs to show patriotism and protect the national interests through boosting the new capabilities of the Bulgarian army. In Tsanko Stoykov’s view, the possible acquisition of an entire squadron of F-16 would be good news.
