Antigovernment protests in Bulgaria continue

Antigovernment protests are expected downtown Sofia on Friday evening for the 93rd consecutive time. The rally is held under the motto “We are not afraid”.

Last night, demonstrators welcomed the resolution on the rule of law in Bulgaria adopted by the European Parliament. Protesters continue to demand the resignations of Bulgaria’s cabinet, this country’s Presecutor General Ivan Geshev, machine voting and judicial reform.

Demonstrators blocked for more than one hour the intersection on Eagles’ Bridge. The leaders of the protests called the reaction of the European Parliament “a political slap in the face” for Premier Boyko Borissov. A verbal duel between the protesters and a citizen dissatisfied with the blockades put and end to the protest rally, BNR reporter Elenitsa Marinova reported.
