“For Bulgaria it is important that the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) start functioning quickly,” said Justice Minister Desislava Ahladova, addressing the Justice and Home Affairs Council.

“In order to provide the European delegated prosecutors the necessary conditions for their work we shall change our Penal Procedure Code and Judiciary System Act, Minister Ahladova said.

EPPO can investigate the spending of the EU coronavirus response funding, the German Presidency of the Council of the EU said.

European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders stated that amendments to the national legislations of 22 countries, which are part of the new structure, are to be made  before the prosecutor’s office starts its work proper.
