Photo: BGNES

The European Commission has presented energy reports with assessments for EU countries. Bulgaria is among those that have achieved the targets for 2020 for the production of renewable energy. Electricity in Bulgaria is the cheapest in the EU - 98 euros per megawatt hour. Together with Malta, the country also reports the lowest price for electricity transmission - 25 euros per megawatt-hour.

Bulgaria is urged, when allocating funds from the new EU budget, to consider measures to gradually phase out coal use and ensure a fair transition for fossil fuel-dependent areas, as well as to prepare a strategy to promote renewable energy. The document also calls for the introduction of measures to encourage the renovation of buildings.
