“North Macedonia’s membership of the EU is of paramount importance to the region and Bulgaria has always supported it but we must have clear guarantees that the unity of the Bulgarian nation and cultural heritage will never be called into question. I expect the government to uphold chapter 35 of the negotiating framework, in which the entire framework position approved by the Bulgarian parliament is formulated. This seems less and less likely and the way out of this situation is the postponement of the negotiations until all issues with North Macedonia are cleared up,” stated President Rumen Radev, commenting on the latest developments in the negotiations between Bulgarias and North Macedonia.

President Radev announced he would be discussing the matter with his German counterpart today, BGNES reports.
