Bulgaria to reduce its CO2 emissions, but under certain conditions

Bulgaria will support the EU's interim target by 2030 to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 55% from levels of 1990. But this would happen in case of adequate compensation mechanisms, the government decided, adopting an updated framework position for a European Green Deal.

It is also necessary to ensure a balanced and fair distribution of the benefits and burdens associated with the transition between individual Member States, the decision reads. Sofia insists on adequate funding from the EU budget, taking into account national needs and specifics, BTA has reported.
