Every year on November 21 Zlatograd celebrates its holiday with a rich program that attracts thousands of guests to the picturesque Rhodope region. The date was not chosen by chance – this is the Day of the liberation of the town from centuries of Ottoman rule. The event is celebrated with a festive rally, concerts and exhibitions by local and foreign artists.
Zlatograd has brought glory to Bulgaria with the song "Izlel ye Delyo Haydutin", recording of which was included on the Golden Record carried on board the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes. The town is a real jewel of the National Revival architecture. The crafts street is among the attractive places for tourists as master craftsmen demonstrate typical Rhodope crafts live.
One of the oldest churches in the Rhodopes built during the Ottoman rule, is on the territory of Zlatograd – the "Assumption" church built in 1834. The town has a total of 120 archaeological and architectural monuments.
