Social partners fail to reach agreement on minimum salary

Photo: archive

Employers’ organizations unanimously rejected the cabinet’s proposal which envisages that minimum monthly salary in Bulgaria increases from EUR 312 to EUR 332 as of January 1, 2021. According to Bulgaria’s employers, the increase would deepen the crisis further, especially in small Bulgarian municipalities and insisted that the minimum monthly wage remains unchanged.

Due to remarks made by employers and the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria, the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation failed to reach an agreement on paying EUR 12 daily compensation to people employed at sectors closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
