Bulgaria is ready to emerge from coronavirus crisis: Premier Borissov

Our goal is to overcome the coronavirus pandemic as soon as possible, so that next year Bulgaria’s gross domestic product can grow 3.8%-4%. Minister Sacheva expects 7% unemployment at the end of 2020

Unemployment fell from 9% in May to 6.9% in October, this country’s Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva said for BNR. She forecasted that unemployment will slightly increase in December, because of the second lockdown and the closure of some businesses. However, in her view, nothing catastrophic will happen and unemployment will remain near 7% at the end of 2020.

The funds allocated for employers under the 60/40 and 80/20 wage support schemes, as well as under the Employment for You project “are only for salaries and cannot be used for anything else”, Minister Sacheva warned. Denitsa Sacheva is adamant that the measures can be combined, but one and the same employee or worker cannot receive money under all measures at the same time. However, employers can combine all measures to provide enough funds for their personnel.
