PM Boyko Borissov inspects readiness for delivery of Covid-19 vaccines

“We made preparations quickly and once the Covid-19 vaccine is here, the vaccination will be organized, only voluntarily and free of charge, using vaccines approved by the European Commission and guaranteed by the European Medicines Agency,” said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov today during a visit to the National Centre of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases in Sofia. 
He made an inspection of the country’s readiness to store the vaccines in specialized refrigerators as they are delivered, the government press service has announced. Work on organizing the vaccination process locally is set to begin on Monday. 
Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov stated that the first consignment is expected to contain 125,000 vaccines.

Foreign Minister: Global cooperation is crucial in the fight against Covid-19

“Global unity and cooperation within the UN is crucial for tackling the challenges posed by Covid-19,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said in a video address during the online session of the United Nation’s General Assembly, the Foreign Ministry press service has announced. 
“The efforts to contain the pandemic must not come at the cost of democratic and civic space, rule of law or international commitments,” Minister Zaharieva said further.

Bulgaria reports 3,614 new Covid-19 cases, or almost 38% of PCR tests performed

3,614 is the number of new of coronavirus infection registered in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours, or 37.92% of the  9,530 PCR tests performedThe highest number of new infections is in Sofia 675, followed by the regions of Plovdiv (380) and Burgas (257), indicate Single Coronavirus Information Portal data. 
2,536 is the number of recoveriesin the past 24 hours, and 147 have died. 6,744 patients with coronavirus are being treated in hospital, 504 of them are in intensive care. The official number of active cases stands at 94,480. A total of 1,009, 397 PCR tests have been carried out in Bulgaria since the start of the pandemic, of them 15.73 %, or 158,807 have returned positive.
