Bulgaria’s Road Infrastructure Agency has announced a public procurement order for the design and construction of the first (75 kilometer-long) section of the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo Motorway, with an estimated value of nearly EUR 500 million, a BNR reporter informed.

The entire route of the future motorway is over 130 kilometers long and is divided into three sections: Ruse - Byala, a bypass of the town of Byala and Byala - Veliko Tarnovo.

The Road Infrastructure Agency has proposed that the project for construction of the highway be included for funding under the "Transport Connectivity" 2021-2027 operational programme. The motorway will start 3 km east of Danube Bridge near Ruse and will reach the town of Debelets, where traffic will divide in two directions- towards the Pass of the Republic and Shipka Pass.
