Kubrat Pulev loses to Anthony Joshua in match for world heavyweight titles

Bulgaria’s boxer Kubrat Pulev lost to Anthony Joshua in a battle for the IBF, WBA and WBO champion belts in Wembley Arena in London.

In the third round of the match Pulev managed to recover from two knock downs. In the next rounds Pulev hit back and held his ground. In the 8th round Pulev landed a huge right hand, but in the 9th round Joshua’s uppercuts found their mark, sending Pulev to the floor. Then he landed a right hand to KO his opponent. 

After the match, the Bulgarian announced that he was infected with a coronavirus which affected his preparation for the big event. Pulev thanked all people who believed in his victory. It is unclear whether this will be the last match in the sports careeer of the thirty nine-year-old Bulgarian boxer. It is unlikely that Kubrat Pulev will get another chance to compete for the world heavyweight title, because the path to an official contender takes between two and three years.
